The artist
Born in Yueyang of Hunan province in 1965, Huang Youwei, alias Fisherman of Dongting Lake, graduated from Hunan Normal University in 1989.
As a professional painter, Huang is expert in watercolor and particularly interested in exploring small delights from slices of daily life. He also enjoys finding hope and beauty from nature and his surroundings.
With his passion for life, he delights in the use of bright colors and hearty delineation of details, which make his works full of light and cheerfulness. People are always deeply touched by his use of color.
Huang has received many awards and his works have been exhibited in China and abroad. He is now regarded as one of the most capable and talented Chinese watercolor painters of his time.
