Day 3 of gales wreaks havoc

A wave crashes against the hull of the merchant ship Maro, wrecked near the Basque port town of Hondaribbia in the Bay of Biscay on Tuesday. The ship ran aground and was broken into three pieces by storm force winds and waves that have sunk numerous boats and caused extensive damage in Biscay and the United Kingdom. Reuters

A third day of severe gales disrupted road and rail travel across the country and forced organizers to cancel day two of the Cheltenham horse racing festival yesterday.
