Tombs offer up a trove of archeological insight

Seventy-seven stone carvings were recently uncovered at three ancient emperors' tombs in Shaanxi province.

Archaeologists from Shaanxi provincial archaeological research institute started a comprehensive survey of the three tombs early last year. The tombs are called Jianling, Zhenling and Chongling, and all were built for emperors during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The relics have yielded much information about the imperial tomb system during the Tang Dynasty.
