Build transparency

The unhealthy tendency of seeking luxury and the waste of public funds were cited by Premier Wen Jiabao in his work report to the ongoing NPC session as a scourge that must be wiped out in the building of an efficient and honest government.

Deputies responded strongly to Premier Wen's call by listing different ways of how public money is wasted by corrupt officials through the abuse of their power, and called for a more severe crackdown on anyone squandering public money.

As a matter of fact, this has been an issue that has been discussed for years.
