Relief fund
China has earmarked 7.89 billion yuan for local governments to carry out poverty-reduction projects this year, the Ministry of Finance said yesterday. The ministry made the decision after consulting with the State Council Leading Group Office for Poverty Reduction and Development and the National Ethnic Affairs Commission. The funds will be used to help local regions hit hard by inclement weather since late January to recover production and to support the social and economic development of regions inhabited by ethnic groups.
