Ruling party enjoys edge

Spain's ruling Socialists have a four-point lead over the opposition conservatives before this weekend's elections, two polls said yesterday, as the two main candidates for prime minister geared up for the last of two televised debates.

The cushion was a bit bigger than those of previous surveys showing the parties in a statistical dead heat. The new polls appeared in Monday's editions of the newspapers El Mundo and La Vanguardia.
