Small victory for post office customer

A man in Baoji, Shaanxi province, recently received 0.01 yuan (0.14 cents) in compensation from a local post office.

On Oct 15, 2007, Cai Jianzhou used the express mail service at his local post office, which cost him 10.5 yuan.

Cai later found out the fee should have been 10 yuan. He sued the post office, claiming compensation of 0.01 yuan.

Cai won the case.

Policemen won't let bike thefts ride

Two policemen in Xianyang, Shaanxi province, are taking a proactive approach to finding the owners of two stolen electric bikes.

The two have been riding the bikes around the city sporting signs that read: "Wanted: The owner of this bike".

"We're policemen from Wujiabao police station and we've just cracked a theft case, which yielded a number of stolen bikes. The suspects said these two electric bikes were stolen in this street, so we're trying to find the owners," said Gao Wenge, one of the policemen.

Villager in custody over five murders

A man is in custody after confessing to the murder of five people in his village on Feb 22 in Yunnan province.

Li Qiang was arrested by local police on Friday afternoon as he helped relatives of the murdered with funeral arrangements.

Local police said after the murders Li went to the victims' homes to support the relatives.

Li was identified as a suspect after a police investigation. He confessed after his arrest.

Uni student cares for paralyzed sister

A university student has won admiration from her peers for looking after her paralyzed sister.

Qin Yan studies at the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University in Shaanxi province.

She comes from a remote village in Inner Mongolia, where her paralyzed elder sister was forced to live alone after their mother died. Their father works away from home to provide for them.

Qin took her sister in and takes her to university with her.
