7 killed at closed tin mine

Seven villagers were killed when the roof of a closed tin mine collapsed in Yunnan province, local sources said yesterday.

Seven of the eight farmers from Renshan and Tiechang villages in Yunlong county were buried when the support frame gave way at 10 pm on Saturday. The group was allegedly illegally digging for tin at the Jiciba mine. One farmer survived, a Dali Bai autonomous prefecture official said yesterday.
