China slays Hong Kong to reach final

China Daily | Updated: 2008-03-01 07:30

GUANGZHOU: China moved in for the kill at the World Team Table Tennis Championships on Friday, slaying Hong Kong 3-0 to reach the women's final.

Meanwhile the country's men team beat the Czech Republic 3-0 later on Friday and is set to face Hong Kong, which made it into the semifinals after downing Romania.

China women's team, boasting the world's top five players, proved too powerful for Hong Kong, whose paddlers could offer little resistance to the Red Army, gunning for their eighth straight team title.
