Cheeky dancing

Joining the throng at Star Live tonight for the SambAsia event are the BBC's world beat DJ Steve Barker and Dan Stephenson of Upstepper Sound and The Syndicate.

SambAsia Beijing will perform two sets of Brazilian percussion dance music, including samba in Bahia and Rio styles. Both are distinctive and high energy.

Group leader Jimmy Biala says if you don't know how to dance the samba, you will learn on the night. "Something will be seriously wrong if people come to this show and sit down to watch," Biala said.

"(The music) will move their bodies and souls and help them let go of whatever inhibitions they may have. SambAsia shows have a proven track record of provoking audience dance mania."

The carnival starts 8:30pm. The Star Live is near the Lama Temple Bridge. Tickets are 40/50/60 yuan on 01064225677, www.thestarlive.com, or on the door.
