CONCERTS

Themes from famous romantic movies will be performed at this public concert. Among the songs to be played are Somewhere in Time, Kull the Conqueror, Sound of Music, and Breakfast At Tiffanys. The organizers, Guangdong Xinghai Concert Hall and The Pearl River Film Co Ltd Symphony Orchestra, say that the audience will also be treated to music from such prominent films as Titanic, Angels in the Street and Gone with the Wind.

World renowned pianist Xu Zhong is set to perform in Guangzhou. Born into a family of medical researchers in Shanghai, Xu began learning play piano with Yu Wang at the age of 4. When he was 16, he began master classes at the Conservatorie National Superieur de Musique de Paris, studying with famed French piano professor Dominique Merlet. Later, Xu became one of five distinguished musicians to be subsidized by the Banque National de Paris.

EXHIBITIONs

Guangdong Museum of Art is showing an exhibition titled The Scenic Eye Visual Arts and The Theater in collaboration with the Consulate General of Germany. The collection brings together works by professional artists from a range of artistic fields.

Michael Liltman is a photographer and painter with an interest in video, sculpture and mixed media. According to Liltman, art is the expression of an unmanageable force. However, he believes that market forces sometimes persuade artists to compromise their visions in order to sell their works. His solo exhibition is being held in Guangzhou.

Painter Wang Huaiqing was born in Beijing, in 1944. According to the Beijing Art Forum, a member of the Chinese Art Committee, Wang is a Grade A artist whose works display a natural talent. This exhibition shows 34 of his paintings from the 1990s until now.
