China Golf Show ready to tee off at end of March in Beijing

The China Golf Show will be held from March 27 to 29 at the new China National Agriculture Exhibition Center and at the Guangzhou Jinhan Exhibition Center from September 11 to 13.

The event, sanctioned by the China Golf Association, has been held in Beijing six times and in Guangzhou four times. It has won special attention from around the world as one of the landmark golf show in the Asia-Pacific region.

The exhibitors' bidding work was completed ahead of time with more than 200 companies and 750 exhibition booths registered.

Meanwhile, seminars on China Golf Industry Strategic Development, Management of the Caddies and Rational Use of Water Resources will be held during the show in Beijing. Clinics will be held to teach golf enthusiasts driving and putting skills.

The Guangzhou show will also set up a special Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) area. It received positive reactions as many exhibitors registered to take part during the PGA Show in the US and the Munich golf show. PGA Show has agreed to be the partner of the China Golf Show. It promised to bring more noted foreign exhibitors to China and take Chinese counterparts outside.

Milwaukee newspaper takes multimedia step into Yi's World

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (jsonline.com) last month launched a multimedia Chinese-language website dedicated to the Milwaukee Bucks rookie forward, Yi Jianlian.

Yi's World (yisworld.com) features news, images, links and video footage of the Chinese star and is targeted at Yi's legions of fans in China.

"We're excited because it seems to us that few if an American newspapers have tried to webcast into the world's biggest emerging market," said Journal Sentinel international business writer John Schmid in an e-mail to China Daily.

Kung Fu King Challenge kicks off in Chongqing

Kung Fu fighters from around the world will square off in Chongqing from March 22 to 25 for the titles of the Second "Luzhou Old Wine Yard Cup" International Kung Fu King Challenge.

Organized by the Chinese Wushu Association, it is one of the most prestigious wushu galas in the world and has attracted global attention since the big success of its first event last February.

The competition is divided into four categories - 75kg, 80kg, 85kg, 90kg - with each having two Chinese and two overseas challengers to slug it out.

China's top fighters will face tougher opponents as an increasing number of the world's best fighters will compete in the tournament.

People's Daily online launches Olympic strategy campaign

People.com.cn, the website of leading national newspaper People's Daily, launched its Olympic strategy campaign on Wednesday in Beijing in a bid to offer the best online services for internet users during the Beijing Olympic Games.

The website also revealed its slogan for the campaign - Shake Hands with People Online and Enjoy the Olympics.

It will also feature a number of Olympics-related activities globally in order to promote its brand as well as encourage people to get involved in the Beijing Games.

The major activities include a driving tour crossing Africa, Europe and Asia by overseas Chinese and a photo collection, which challenged the world's Internet users to take the most beautiful pictures of the 115 Olympic torch relay cities.
