Yang Liping, a renowned Chinese dancer known as the "Peacock Princess" is the leading dancer and art director of a large-scale show. Comprising a prelude and five acts, the 2-hour show features the dance cultures of 20 ethnic groups in Southwest China, such as the Yi, Dai, Bai, Jingpo, Hani and Jino.

To celebrate the New Year festival, the Shanghai Opera House and guest artists are putting on a spectacular dance show featuring Chinese, Korean and Southeast Asian styles, set to music ranging from The Phantom of the Opera to piano solos and folk songs. The star performer is mezzo-soprano Wang Weiqian.

Performed by Shanghai Oriental City Dancing Troupe, Wild Zebra tells of the tragic love story between two zebras. Created in 1997, the production integrates classical and modern ballet with modern folk dance. This inspired dance drama comes from acclaimed playwright, choreographer and director Zhang Jigang.

CONCERT
Famous Hong Kong pop singer Alan Tam will perform dozens of old hits in Shanghai again. During the golden age of Canto-pop in the 1980s, Tam was as famous as Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui.

Abstract lines and spirals, color blocks and human figures ... Wang Jun and Liu Bing, both graduates from the Sichuan Academy of Art, express their unique understanding of the human body. Liu Bing, a Christian, says painting is like praying.

More than 80 traditional prints are on show at the Liu Haisu Art Museum. These works have been selected from the Shanghai Artists Association collection. The artists, aged 60 to 100, offer different themes, including traditional stories. The work is of a high artistic level.

Miroslav Tichy from the Czech Republic will hold his first exhibition in China. His work is marked by primitivism, rejection of technical excellence and an almost complete re-working of the process of photography. He is doggedly obsessive about one thing only - taking furtive photos of women in his small town.
