Twenty four viola players from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music will present various performances, including solo viola, duet viola, trio viola and a symphony of 24 violas. They will showcase the glamour of viola music and play Chinese traditional folk songs, popular music from South America and music from Europe's royal houses.

Burning Floor began with a spectacular ballroom dance demonstration at Elton John's 50th birthday party in 1997. Australian producer Harley Medcalf attended the party and was mesmerized. In 1998, it was transferred to the stage and has since toured 32 countries. Burning Floor includes samba, salsa, waltz, rumba, tango, and the dynamic energy of swing and jive.

Although the opera Othello is famous for its difficulty, the Shanghai Opera House has taken on the challenge in a production featuring vocal artists from China. After its debut in Shanghai, the opera will be staged at the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing and will later tour to Europe, participating in festivals such as the Savonlinna Opera Festival and the Dalhalla Festival.

CONCERTS
Vitas is back again after his first visit to China in 2006. The Russian musician will present a solo concert including signature works Opera 2, The Star and songs from last year's album Return Home. He will also perform Russian folk songs, familiar to Chinese audiences, and Chinese songs in Chinese.

Referred to as Little Teresa Teng, Japanese-Chinese singer Chen Yajuan is known for her skilled imitations of the legendary Teresa Teng, from Taiwan. Chen will be accompanied by will be provided by the Shanghai Light Music Orchestra.

Exhibitions
Photographer Wang Yiqiong's Still Garden series is a prime example of creating dreams by recording reality. His works focus on consolation, rather than desire.

Miroslav Tichy from the Czech Republic will hold his first exhibition in China. His work is marked by primitivism, rejection of technical excellence and an almost complete re-working of the process of photography. He is doggedly obsessive about one thing only - taking furtive photos of women in his small town.
