STAGE
Spanish Ballet of Murcia was established in 1985. It is led by Carmen and her sibling Matilde Rubio and their credo is to protect and develop the Spanish music genre of flamenco. Spanish Ballet of Murcia is the only dance troupe in Spain that harmoniously blends flamenco and opera. Most of the operas presented by the dance troupe derive from ancient Greek myths.

Eileen Chang's best-known work Red Rose and White Rose has been adapted for the stage by director Tian Qinxin. White Rose will be played by Hu Jingfan while Golden Horse Award winner Qin Hailu will play Red Rose. Qin says she is trying to put a different spin on the version of Red Rose depicted in Stanley Kwan's film, which won Joan Chen a best actress award at the 1994 Golden Horse Awards.

CONCERTS
Guangzhou Youth Orchestra and the city's youth percussion group will present a concert this weekend. Sharing Love will include a dozen classics from China and abroad, such as I Love You, China, and For Elise.

Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra will present a concert next weekend called Ardour Sparkle. The concert is a part of the orchestra's season of music for 2007/2008. Lu Jia, who is chief conductor at the national opera house in Italy, will take the baton. Xue Wei is chief violinist.

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPO), founded in August 1973, is the only professional philharmonic orchestra in Hong Kong. HKPO holds more than 100 classical and pop music concerts a year. Since the internationally renowned Edo de Waart joined as artistic director and chief conductor for the 2004/05 season, HKPO has reached new heights of artistic excellence and is rapidly emerging as one of Asia's leading orchestras.

EXHIBITION
As the political, economic and cultural center of Southwest China, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, has developed into a city of art and leisure. This exhibition displays the works of Chengdu's easel artists, and reveals the history and progress of the region.
