The comedy-meets-science fiction storyline revolves around a father-son relationship. Chow said he chose a science fiction story, because he has been a big Steven Spielberg fan since he was very young.

Chow's son is played by 9-year-old girl actress Xu Jiao. The director spoke highly of the girl, calling her "a genius actress".
