The Tujia ethnic minority group living in the southwestern region boasts a distinct architectural style - hanging cottages built on hillsides and supported by pillars.
A Tujia cottage was recently sold for 90,000 yuan at an auction in the Xiangxi Tujia Autonomous Perfecture in Hunan Province, from a starting price of just 9 yuan.
Zhou, who bought the cottage, said she plans to turn it into a museum for organic food.
