Full house: Dubbed one of the funniest comedies of the year, Tomb Rider: Hypnotic Night starts with Mei and his assistant Oscar breaking into an old house one night. The land where the house stands has been included in a real estate project operated by Mei's company. They want the owner to move out, and ask the construction team to demolish the house at 5 am. Meanwhile, three other people enter the house. Strangely, they all lose consciousness and when they wake up, find themselves stuck in the house and separated from the outside world. Then Li Li, the hostess, appears. She hypnotizes them, which drives them to recollect what they've done. The five people struggle in desperation as the time nears 5 am.

Maze of me: The Self-Labyrinth is a photographic exhibition featuring images of the artist, Emi, in black-and-white tones. The background theme is the subordination of women in a male-dominated world. Emi challenges that prejudice with her own body and life. She presents the procedure of self-discovery as an ode to the beauty of the female body.

A stone's throw: A display of sculptures made of bronze, marble and wood forms the 2007 Contemporary Sculpture Open Show at the Beijing Exhibition Hall.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the free show introduces some 100 works of such representative young and middle-aged sculptors as Liu Ruowang, Wang Xiaobei and Zhang Hua. The latest show, in addition to introducing art into ordinary life, also acts as a bridge between sculptors and collectors. In the local contemporary art market, sculptures are somewhat neglected compared with paintings, yet there is great potential in the field.

Surreal charm: Twenty-seven works by the US veteran artist Leza Lidow, famed for her surrealist style, are on display at Beijing World Art Museum. Installation works convey aesthetic elements from ancient times, through the Renaissance to contemporary art. The installations are made of shop window mannequins imbued with value, emotion and energy.

Frontier pioneers: The opening exhibition of the Ullens Center features the `85 New Trend. The three exhibition blocks show 137 works by 30 artists.

The year 1985 witnessed the blossoming of contemporary art in China. Artists of that period pioneered innovations in theme, form and technique.

Good as gold: Shanghai Museum, in collaboration with Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, is presenting the exhibition Rembrandt and the Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum. Rijksmuseum Amsterdam is the most important museum in the Netherlands and among the top 10 museums in the world.
