Biz Scene: BIZ UNUSUAL
Bed testing
The proof of the bedding is in sleeping. So seems the motto of a department store selling furniture that recently introduced a special sales promotion inviting customers to sleep there, using its bed, pillows, sheets and quilts. The store also provides slippers, soap and even breakfast. The promotion has attracted 1,000 applicants in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province, where the store is located. The store will select 30 from the first batch of applicants.
Matchmaking party
Loneliness pays - for others that is. Many single men were relieved to find a party where they could meet girls on Bachelor's Day for a few yuan. A university in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, organized this matchmaking party to help single men celebrate November 11th, or "11.11", in style and with hope.
Old school
Luo Guohuai, 29, who graduated from Wuhan University with journalism as his major, has set up an old-style private school in a remote village of Southwest China's Guizhou Province. His school follows the Chinese education style used in ancient times and teaches classic literature, including Three Character Primer. However, it also teaches Shakespeare.
Stadium models
"Bird's Nest" in your living room? It's possible now, with the recent introduction of a metallic model of the National Stadium. The models, priced at 4,800 yuan apiece, have aroused the interest of collectors who expect its value to increase, helping them to make a killing.
