Magnus off to a great start in Southwest China

China Daily | Updated: 2007-11-13 07:05

Established in 2006, Magnus International Resources specializes in identifying, acquiring and developing precious and base metal properties in China. At present, it has a 90-percent interest in two gold exploration projects in China's mineral-rich Sichuan and Yunnan provinces.

Those properties comprise Huidong, for which Magnus holds an exploration license through Yunnan Long Teng Mining Ltd, and Mangshi, for which Magnus holds an exploration license through Yunnan's Team 209.

Magnus and Team 209 are conducting a comprehensive exploration program on the Huidong property with the goal of defining the extent of gold and copper reserves in the area. Several stages of sampling and exploration have been completed, which have helped identify the Dingjiapang, Laowanshan and Laoshuijing prospects within the Huidong Concession.

In 2008, the company will focus on the Laowangshan area. Located in the south-central part of the Huidong Property, the area's soil sampling programs have indicated high concentrations of gold and copper with up to 3 g/t gold and over 1 percent copper. These formations are the most extensive in the Huidong property.

Magnus believes in the Huidong property and hopes to realize the financial success of the Huidong-Boka trend. The region is controlled by Magnus and Southwestern Resources, which have already proven reserves of 5.12 million ounces of gold in the Boka section.

Company founder and CEO Graham Taylor knows there are challenges ahead for his company but he is optimistic about the potential of the region.

"We are located adjacent to the world-class multi-million-ounce Boka project, which has many similarities to our Huidong project. We have already located significant anomalies in our own property and we have a great China specific team with an on the ground presence," he said.
