Naked truth: Chen Xi's latest oil series, The Queen's New Clothes, started in an unusual way. She saw her husband showering through a transparent door and drew several paintings of men's bodies covered in bubbles. Then, she shifted to painting women. In these works, she wanted to bring out their attitudes towards the modern world through their bodily expressions. The concept of "new clothes" suggests a developing internal condition. It refers to a spirit of openness and an attitude of freedom.
