Leow goes solo: Vincent Leow is a pivotal figure in both artistic renovation and the development of art groups in Singapore. Leow's early paintings are raw and visceral canvases that bear the influences of German painters. His later paintings register several shifts, particularly those created during and after his art studies in the United States. Some of his works feature an urban-street style and are arguably Neo-Surrealic. Others carry a Pop-art sensibility, a taste for kitsch and a highly individual visual vocabulary.
This is nowhere more evident than in Andy's Pranks and Swimming Lessons, his solo show now displaying his latest works, which represent Singapore at the Venice Biennale 2007.
