The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a seminar to solicit advice from non-Party members on the draft political report to be submitted to the 17th CPC National Congress, it was reported on Saturday.

Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the seminar, at which members of China's non-Communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, as well as non-Party citizens were invited to voice their opinions.

The non-Communist people said the draft report took a clear stand and was meaningful and insightful, according to a press release from the seminar.

They said it was the CPC's political manifesto facing the world and future, and the program of action to lead people of all ethnic groups to achieve the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

They offered advice and suggestions on the country's reform and opening-up, and sound and fast development of the national economy, among other issues.

Hu thanked the participants for their opinions and told the report's drafting team to study and take into consideration their remarks.

He said the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the sole way for the development of China, adding that such a way is the choice of history, of the people and of the era, and was a prerequisite for more victories in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, accelerating socialist modernization, and rejuvenating the Chinese nation.

Jia Qinglin and Zeng Qinghong, who are members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
