Move lauded

Comments on "Overseas media get closer view" (China Daily, October 9)

Such a measure will allow more overseas media to have a more positive view of China.

It shows the CPC's sincerity to the foreign media, which means that the CPC is continually making progress.

The foreigners will know more about China through the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

This is great change and progress.

With the media open to overseas, more foreigners will be able to know China better, including the country's economic development and culture. Thus they will be able to comment on China more impartially.

We hope that more and more overseas reporters come to China to have a better understanding of the country's progress relating to its society, economy and culture.

On right track

Comments on "Work on Beijing-Shanghai rail link set to start" (China Daily, October 10)

I hope China will use indigenous technology.

It will generate more employment for the Chinese people and experience to build more high-speed railways across the whole of China.

To be frank, I think the Japanese new-line or Sinkansian (in Chinese) is the best technology and most cost-efficient for the Beijing-Shanghai fast-track railway.

And personally, I think China should now consider importing Japanese hi-tech for the line.
