Boulder bet

Wang Shinian, chief of a mining company in Anhui Province, recently spent 1.6 million yuan on a 100-kg boulder, betting he would find jade inside. The raw boulder was discovered in Central China's Henan Province. After cutting into the stone, Wang indeed found a huge, precious jade. A couple from Shanghai has offered 30 million yuan for the boulder.

English names

Some food manufacturers in Tianjin are inviting the public to contribute ideas about their English names. Till now, 25 local restaurants with traditional Chinese food brands have received more than 300 ideas from the public.

A local resident surnamed Li offered "Go believe" for Tianjin "Goubuli Stuffed Buns", a Tianjin-based famous Chinese food brand that dates back hundreds of years, as the pronunciation is similar to "Goubuli".

Giant steamer

A restaurant on the outskirts of Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province, recently made a giant bamboo steamer that's 3 meters in diameter and can hold more than 70 plates.

It made the first batch of steamed buns in a food festival during the National Day holidays. The restaurant owner plans to apply to the Guinness World Records for the giant steamer.
