Careless dog owner stirs up a hornet's nest
A man surnamed Zhao dialed a fire emergency hotline for help on Sunday after hornets attacked his wolfhound in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province.
Zhao unwittingly tied his dog to a tree that had a large hornet's nest when he went to a restaurant on the city's Taishan Road.
When Zhao finished eating he found his dog being attacked by hornets. The dog was rescued when fire fighters arrived on the scene 15 minutes later, but it was seriously injured.

Student saves own life by singing after fall
A freshman who fell 200 m down a mountain valley was rescued on Saturday after singing folk songs for 13 hours in Songshan Scenic Park, Dengfeng City, Henan Province.
Hikers heard the 20 year old and notified fire fighters at the Dengfeng City Bureau of Public Security, who pulled him out of the ravine. The student was cut and bruised and was sent to hospital for treatment.

Man's heroism ends in tragedy as son dies
A man surnamed Chen selflessly saved three members of another family before pulling out his own son, who died, after a boating accident.
Chen, from Changsha, Hunan Province, his 6-year-old son and the Tang family were taking a sightseeing trip when their boat collided with another craft.
Only after Chen successfully rescued the three Tang family members did he try to save his own son. Chen's story has touched the hearts of residents in his hometown, according to local newspaper reports.
