Industrial platform to offer wealth of opportunities

PTC ASIA 2007 is set to open from October 10 to 13 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

Since its debut last year, this professional exhibition has won much praise from industry insiders. This year, more than 1,500 exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions will participate in the exhibition, occupying a total display area of 70, 000 sq m.

The event, seen as Asia's No.1 and the world's No.2 professional exhibition of power transmission and control technology, is expected to attract more than 80,000 professional visitors from all over the world.

The exhibition will display top-notch products and technologies in such fields as liquid power transmission, mechanical transmission, compressed air, machine parts and components, fasteners, springs, internal-combustion engines and internal-combustion turbines.

With the central government's 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-10) putting great emphasis on the development of water conservancy, energy, construction and environmental protection industries, the market demand for hydraulic and pneumatic drives, sealing elements, bearings, gears and machine parts and components, has risen sharply.

The upcoming show will bring together the world's top names in hydraulic and pneumatic drives and sealing elements, such as hydraulic experts Bosch Rexroth, Eaton and Stauff; pneumatic authorities Festo, SMC, CKD and KOGANEI; and sealing element manufacturers NOK and Trelleborg.

More display area

Germany, Italy, the United States, Britain, France, Spain, South Korea and China's Taiwan Province will field their contingents during the show, which will see a 10 percent increase in the overseas exhibitors over last year.

Domestic hydraulic brands have also expanded their display areas, best represented by Sunbun and Dazhong with a 300 sq m and 270 sq m display area respectively. A number of other exhibitors have taken up more than 100 sq m.

Total domestic demand for hydraulic, liquid power, pneumatic and sealing products is projected to rise to around 45 billion yuan by the year 2010. Many well-known domestic brands will also take part in the exhibition, such as Huade, Shanghai Electric, and Yuci, to compete with overseas players for a lion's share of the potential deals, alongside other big names such as INA, FAG, TIMKEN, GGB, NSK and SKF.

A highlight of PTC ASIA 2007 is the International Mechanical Transmission, Parts and Equipment Exhibition (MTPE).

This year, the exhibition will attract more than 450 exhibitors, covering a display area of over 22, 000 sq m. Excellent returns in the past are drawing many exhibitors to attend once again, with an expanding display area, such as SEW and Sumitomo.

The renowned power transmission enterprise Bonfiglioli has reserved a large display booth of 200 sq m, twice the size of that last year.

Other regular customers have also enlarged their display booths, such as European and American manufactures Lord Abbett, Lenze, Rexnord and Folk, along with Japanese brands Tsubaki Emerson, Yanagawa Ohashi and Nabeya and Taiwan leaders such as Transtec, APEX and TPG.

In recent years, against the general background of the rapid development of China's fastener industry as well as the sharp increase in exports, problems such as scattering, small size and lower efficiency, have gradually begun to creep in.

The International Fastener, Spring and Special Equipment Exhibition, part of PEC ASIA 2007, is expected to help improve the general state of the industry and provide an ideal platform for domestic enterprises to learn advanced foreign technologies.

New sub-exhibitions

To accelerate the technical progress in China's internal-combustion engine industry and strengthen international exchange and cooperation in this industry, the Chinese Society for Internal-combustion Engines will, for the first time, hold the International Internal-combustion Engine and Manufacturing Equipment Exhibition (ICE) simultaneously with PTC ASIA 2007.

Five ICEs have been held so far. In recent years, the great potential of the Chinese internal-combustion engine market has attracted numerous overseas internal-combustion engine manufacturers for cooperation.

This exhibition will offer both exhibitors and visitors an ideal platform for information exchange and business negotiations.

Meanwhile, with strong support from the China Compressor Business Association, the sponsors have joined hands with the Compressor Institute of Xi'an Jiaotong University and China Compressor Net (www.compressor.cn) to launch the "International Compressed Air Technology Exhibition", another new sub-exhibition in the upcoming PTC ASIA 2007, at which more than 40 exhibitors have registered.

In recent years, the domestic refrigeration industry has seen sustained and strong growth, greatly spurring the compressor industry.

The Compressor Technology and Development Forum that will be held simultaneously with the exhibition will specially invite numerous association leaders, industrial experts, executives of compressor manufacturing enterprises as well as purchasing and technical personnel of the compressor application industry for in-depth exchanges on the issues concerning the development trends of the compressor industry and its development in applications in petrochemical, metallurgy, electric power and environmental protection industries.

B2B platform

To enable better returns for exhibitors, Hannover Fairs (China) Ltd, as one of the organizers, has adopted a unique multimedia promotion model, joining hands for the first time with alibaba.com, one of the world's largest professional online business platforms.

Thanks to the strong customer resources of alibaba.com, this year's show has so far attracted nearly 1,000 professional purchasers from more than 89 countries such as India, Egypt, Israel, Iran, Japan, Sudan and Saudi Arabia besides other countries from Africa and Southeast Asia.

The exhibition covers all the main fields of logistics technology and equipment purchasing, such as auto manufacturing, commercial distribution, transportation, harbor, iron and steel metallurgy, construction machinery, numerically-controlled machinery, food and beverage packing, light industry machinery like semiconductor and electronic communication equipment, mechanized equipment and military logistics.

The focus of the forums will shift from being commerce-oriented to industry-oriented.

SMC Pneumatic Technology Forum held by international pneumatic expert SMC, will display the latest technologies and development trends in the field of pneumatics.

Conference programs also include Environment-friendly and Pollution-free Technology-Application of Technology for Gas-phase Antirust Packing of Metal Products; Report on the Precision Forming Technology for Gears and Link Joints; 2007 Work Conference for the Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Seals Industry; the seventh Annual Congress of CSICE; and the 2007 Annual Forum of China Springs Manufacturers Association.
