Shanghai goal
Shanghai wants to become an international financial center and a magnet for global investors, the mayor said.
Shanghai mayor Han Zheng said this week the city should accelerate moves to bring its market more in line with international practices.
He said the municipal government is studying the matter of helping the city's stock exchange cooperate with overseas counterparts as part of the effort.
Center launched
The Tianhe software park in Guangzhou launched its Software Cooperation Center yesterday. The center will team up with the Hong Kong Software Outsourcing Alliance to build the park into a global software outsourcing base.
The new center will help the software park organize promotional events, introduce foreign investment and stimulate cross-border cooperation.
Guangzhou-based companies exported $300 million worth of software last year. India and Hong Kong are the city's main export markets, accounting for more than 80 percent of the city's total software exports.
