Employees at P&G China's Shanghai office are getting paid to stay home. Recently, P&G China introduced a new welfare policy, which allows its employees to choose one day of the week to work from home. The new policy has received an overwhelming response from company staff.
Beven, an engineer in the company's research and development center, said working at home can save commuting time, allowing employees plenty of rest which enhances productivity.
Fruitcake frenzy
A giant fruitcake worth 3,000 yuan was sold off to thousands of locals in just half a day recently in Chengdu of Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The cake weighed 1 ton and took 16 chefs 12 hours to bake, according to the food company that produced it. It was made from 100 kg of flour, 100 kg of fruit, 250 kg of butter and 4,000 eggs.
Wanted: Job hunter
Xiao Hengyu, a migrant worker in Shenzhen, has posted an ad online seeking an agent to help him find a job.
Xiao is offering up to 10,000 yuan for a job hunter to find him flexible work so that he can follow his dream of becoming a novelist.
He said he is writing a book based on his experiences but finds little time to work on it because his current job takes up 12 hours a day.
