PARIS: US Open semi-finalist David Ferrer has broken into the top 10 for the first time in the latest ATP rankings released on Monday.

The Spaniard from Valencia has climbed seven places to eighth behind Roger Feederer after his Flushing Meadows exploits where he knocked out Rafael Nadal on his way to the last four.

Roger Federer, who clinched his fourth straight US Open title, heads the standings with 7605 points from Nadal and beaten US finalist Novak Djokovic.
