Building on advanced technology
With 23 subsidiaries and more than 13,000 technical staff specialized in all business fields, LICOGI is poised to become a leading economic group in Vietnam.
Since 1960, LICOGI, or the Infrastructure Development and Construction Corporation under the Ministry of Construction, has evolved from a small mechanical enterprise into a powerful State-owned company. LICOGI's strengths are in civil, industrial, traffic, waterworks, road and bridge projects.
As a contractor, LICOGI is the employer for large-scale hydroelectric, urban area, and industrial zone projects.
From 2000 to present, the annual growth rate of LICOGI rose from 20 percent to 30 percent and annual revenue jumped from $64.1 million to more than $230 million in 2006, almost quadrupling in just six years.
LICOGI is currently participating in the construction of more than 10 hydroelectric projects nationwide, with additional projects to be executed in neighboring countries until 2010.
"Every project and product made by LICOGI implies sound results and prestigious quality," General Director of LICOGI Vu Tien Giao said.
"More and more clients trust our brand name in the construction sector, which has become familiar to both Vietnamese and foreign investors."
Diversification & Partnerships
By 2010, LICOGI expects to achieve annual revenue of $438 million.
In order to reach that goal, it will continue promoting its abilities in the construction field as Vietnam's construction market expands.
"We will diversify into construction materials and remain open to cooperate with international partners to find more jobs and mobilize capital to widen our activities," Giao said.
LICOGI believes that by mastering and applying advanced technology to their work, it will continue improving construction standards.
"Our challenge is how to master and apply advanced technology in construction of hydroelectric projects," Giao said.
"To overcome this, we require that our staff always work to improve themselves, to have inquiring minds about how to master new technology and equipment."
Prestigious Portfolio
LICOGI's projects include the National Convention Center used for APEC 2006, the Noi Bai International Airport, and Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.
Each of these projects has its own historical and political importance in the dynamic history of Vietnam.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was built to show Vietnamese deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, the Noi Bai International Airport signified the country's "Open Door Policy", and the National Convention Center marked a new step forward to international economic integration for Vietnam.
"Participating in the execution of projects of this magnitude is our pride and joy, therefore every staff member of LICOGI worked extremely hard to complete the projects to perfection," Giao said.
