Aiming to promote the level of sport wear design in China, Jordan China started the contest last year.

Sampling slices of folk fare

China Radio International (CRI) and The Intangible Culture Heritage Protection Center of China have jointly launched a folk music collecting tour to South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

During the trip, CRI will interview folk musicians and record their performances. These will be produced into a serial of programs broadcast on CRI and Guangxi People's Radio. At the end of this year, CRI will hold a concert in Beijing showcasing the music.

CRI plans to launch the music collecting tour in 10 regions over five years. They chose Guangxi as the first stop because there are dozens of ethnic groups in the region, each with rich musical traditions.

TV series fair seeks cooperation

Chinese TV series producers and broadcasters gathered at the country's first TV series promotion fair in Beijing to discuss the declining quality of home-made shows.

A total of 13,840 episodes were produced in China last year, "only 3,000 episodes or so were shown at prime time of TV stations, and the demand of Chinese TV stations is no more than 7,000," said You Xiaogang, a famous TV series director in China.

That means more than 6,000 episodes remain unshown, said You, head of the the Capital TV Program-Making Association (CTPMA), which co-sponsored the fair with the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television. To lift the standard of China's TV series production, the CTPMA is trying to bring producers and broadcasters together to collect ideas.
