Gateway sets up Chinese alliance

PC maker Gateway Inc will unveil a partnership with China's biggest IT product distributor today, the US firm said yesterday.

"Digital China has a strong distribution network and a national reach, which is important for us to approach individual computer buyers," said Bob Davidson, senior vice-president of retail at Gateway, yesterday.

Gateway has grown into the third-largest PC maker in the US mainly due to its low-cost direct sales model.
