Behind the Blueprint's green design

China Daily | Updated: 2007-07-25 06:53

The three-year China Conservation Blueprint Project began in June of 2006, and is one of the key projects of The Nature Conservancy China Program.

Its first "pilot" phase has just finished extensive cataloguing, mapping and assessment of biodiversity in the upper Yangtze River Basin. It also produced a set of conservation action suggestions and strategies. This priority conservation assessment system can be adapted throughout the country if updated to fit local conditions. Training for conservation managers can also be based on this as well, all in an effort to increase the quality and effectiveness of conservation in China.
