Lei Runming, a UN observer stationed in Iraq and Kuwait, died in a car accident on the Iraq-Kuwait border in 1991, while on a mission there.
Liu Mingfang, a UN observer stationed in Cambodia, came down with Malaria in May 1992 and died later, owing to delayed treatment.
Chen Zhiguo and Yu Shili were with an engineering unit of the Chinese peacekeeping troop in Cambodia. They both died of a bomb raid on their camps on the night of May 21, 1993. Seven other Chinese soldiers were wounded.
Yu Jianxing, head of the UN weapons inspection group in Iraq, died in a car accident in southern Baghdad on March 13, 2003.
Fu Qingli, 26, a soldier in charge of construction at an engineering unit of the Chinese peacekeeping troop in the Democratic People's Republic of Congo, died shortly after he fainted suddenly on May 3, 2005, while washing the mud from a loader.
Zhang Ming, a soldier with the transportation unit of the Chinese peacekeeping troops in Liberia, was killed in a bomb attack on October 24, 2005.
Du Zhaoyu, 34, a lieutenant-colonel in the People's Liberation Army, was killed in an Israeli air strike on Lebanon on July 25, 2006. Du, father of a 1-year-old son, died when he was on duty as a UN observer.
