Vinda league completes fourth stop in Kunming

The Vinda China National Bowling League completed its fourth stop in Kunming over the weekend at the Hongta Bowling Center.

A club team from Sichuan Province won the curve-ball title while a team from Fujian finished first in the open group.

The league, organized by the Multi-ball Administrative Center under the China State General Administration of Sports, CCTV Sports Channel, the Chinese Bowling Association and the Guangdong Vinda Group, offers a total prize money of 760,000 yuan with stops in Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Kunming, Dalian, Zhengzhou and Wuhan before the finale in Guangzhou in November.

The next stop is in Dalian, followed by matches in Zhengzhou and Wuhan before the Guangzhou finale in November.

Motor Sports

World Drift Series comes to China in October

China's State General Administration of Sports gave the green light to another high-profile motor sports event as the World Drift Series will take place in China at the end of October.

The non-racing tournament, which challenges drifting skills, will be held in four cities across China - Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Guangzhou.

The administration said the launch of the tournament is a sign of the fast development of motor sports in China, which now hosts almost all of the world's elite events such as Formula One and A1.

"Last year there were 108 motor sports events held in China but I still feel that is not enough," said Yu Zaiqing, head of Federation of Automobile Sports of China (FASC).

The organizers will start to recruit Chinese drivers next month.

University Games

The Eighth National University Games kicked off yesterday at the Guangzhou Higher Educational Center, South China's Guangdong Province.

About 6,000 college students from 34 province-level delegations, including from Hong Kong and Macao, will compete in the 10-day event.
