Diving
Top athletes emerge winners in qualification
The first qualification tournament for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Diving Competition was held last Friday and Saturday in Foshan, Guangdong Province.
As expected world and Olympic champions emerged winners in four synchronized events.
Olympic and world champions Guo Jingjing and Wu Mingxia won the women's three-meter springboard title and He Chong and Luo Yutong won the men's three-meter springboard title on Friday.
On Saturday, World Championships winner Lin Yue and Huo Liang unexpectedly dominated to win the men's 10-meter platform title while 15-year-olds Chen Ruolin and Wang Xing swept to victory in the women's platform.
The five-star event, orgnized by the International Swimming Federation, the Swimming and Diving Administrative Center of the China State General Administration of Sports and the Foshan People's Government, marks the fourth year of sponsorship by Swedish mobile phone giant Nokia.

Amateur 3on3 tournament ends in Beijing
The Beijing 3on3 street basketball competition of the sixth Beijing National Fitness Festival concluded on Sunday at the basketball courts of the Jinyuanyansha Shopping Mall.
The event, organized by the Beijing Social Sports Administrative Center, the China Mobile Group, Shanghai Yaoji Playing Cards Co Ltd, the Ningbo New Health Sports Goods Co Ltd and Beijing Feilu Sports Goods Co Ltd, attracted participation of hundreds of Beijing basketball enthusiasts.
The high school title went to Team It's Only Play, the Senior High title to Team Temporary, the women's title to Team Horbit, the Open Group title to Team Nothing Left, and the Migrant Workers title to Luhe Education Team and the Science and Technology title to Team A of Post Graduates Academy.

Soccer players fight for chance to go to Europe
The 2007 Pepsi 5on5 Soccer Challenge Beijing stage came to a conclusion at the weekend and the Happy Boys Team from Beijing Sport University competition zone won the tournament.
The team will fight it out with champions from other stages for a chance to compete with Pepsi-sponsored superstars in England. The Shenyang Feilong Team won the 2006 tournament and traveled to Spain to challenge Barcelona's Brazilian striker Ronaldinho.
The Beijing stage comprises of 25 competitions zones, seeing over 2,600 teams, a total of 18,000 players, take part over the past three months.
Meanwhile, the Gatorade 3on3 Basketball Challenge was also completed at the weekend and the 756 Team was the winner of the Beijing Stage.
They will compete in the national finals and the winning team will be awarded a chance to go to the USA and watch an NBA game.
