Thai tour for Golden pairWhat's new

Two actors from Zhang Yimou's Curse of the Golden Flower will visit Thailand's royal beach resort of Hua Hin this summer. Actor Shao Bing and actress Li Man (pictured) are set to join a tour, organized by the Chinese magazine National Geographic Traveler and the Thailand Tourism Bureau.

Hua Hin is regarded as the oldest and most traditional Thai resort. It is a holiday destination with the charm and fascination of a still-active fishing port. The five-day tour is an annual event organized by the magazine for its readers. Last year during the National Holiday vacation, more than 50 readers from Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu drove to Shennongjia, the scenic destination in Hubei Province.

Real Women stars

The Chinese edition of Good Housekeeping has kicked off its 2007 selection of "Real Women" nationwide. In its third year, the event will continue to look for women models who are not only beautiful but also independent, tough and capable. Last year, a total of 20 stars and celebrities including TV producer and host Yang Lan, actress Gong Li, fashion designer Ma Yanli, singer Na Ying were nominated for last year's selection and the Hong Kong actress Zhao Yazhi finally won the title of "Real Woman." As part of the event, the magazine will organize lectures in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to discuss how to maintain a long-lasting but fresh marriage, how to nurse and bring up kids as well as teach tips of cooking and housekeeping.

Charity in fashionWhat's new

The 2007 Bazaar Charity Night on September 8 at China World Hotel features fashion shows and performances. The organizer, the Chinese edition of Bazaar magazine, has invited more than 100 entertainment personalities and celebrities. The Chinese Charity Stars Awards will also be announced at the event, which will raise funds to buy computers for orphanages nationwide.

Bazaar first hosted the Charity Night in 2003, and it has become one of the important events in China's charity calendar. Over the last four years, the Bazaar Charity Night has raised some 6 million yuan ($780,000) for China Red Cross Foundation, Beijing Charity Association and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Each year's Bazaar Charity Night has a different theme, such as "charity as fashion" or "charity as a hobby". Last year, Bazaar published a pictorial collection of stories of 100 people who donate to others or receive help from others.

This year, Bazaar puts a proposal to China's Ministry of Civil Affairs to set a charity day. One hundred entrepreneurs and celebrities have signed to support the proposal.
