Slayer star arrested in scuffle
Actress Kristy Swanson pressed assault charges on Sunday against the ex-wife of her partner, Lloyd Eisler, her representative said.
Eisler's ex-wife, Marcia O'Brien, had first filed a complaint with police, leading to Swanson's arrest on Saturday night in Canada.
Swanson, 37, said she was released after posting bail in Kingston, Ontario.
Police took pictures of bruises on Swanson's back and other parts of her body to document the injuries she claimed were inflicted by O'Brien in a scuffle on Friday, according to Swanson spokesman Michael Sands.
"I had to go the police station where I had an appointment at 9 pm to begin the process of being arrested," Swanson told People magazine, quoted on its website on Sunday.
Sands said Eisler and Swanson were in Kingston to visit Eisler's children and discuss custody with O'Brien.
Kingston Police Sgt. Rick LaBrash declined to comment. Attempts to reach O'Brien were not successful.
Eisler, 44, a former world champion pairs skater, met Swanson in 2006 while filming the FOX reality series, Skating with Celebrities. Eisler left his wife for Swanson, whose film credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Martin signs on for more Law
Jesse L. Martin has inked a deal to return to NBC's Law & Order next season, which will mark his ninth season as Detective Ed Green. The actor will appear in at least 13 episodes of the series, which returns for its 18th season in the fall.
Martin's deal comes on the heels of Jeremy Sisto's signing on to play a detective, replacing Milena Govich. Fred Thompson recently announced his decision to leave the series. His role of district attorney will be filled by L&O veteran Sam Waterston.
Martin next appears in the film Caretakers and is set to play Marvin Gaye in the feature film Sexual Healing. The singer-actor's other recent credits include the film Rent.
Brit rock royalty's quiet Italian nuptials
British rock star Rod Stewart married Penny Lancaster on Saturday in a low-key ceremony on Italy's Ligurian coast.
Stewart, 62, and Lancaster, 36, have been together since the break-up of Stewart's second marriage in 1998 and tied the knot in a civil ceremony in a villa with only Lancaster's parents as witnesses.
Model Lancaster wore a short, white satin dress and white high-heeled shoes. She arrived at the ceremony some 20 minutes before the groom, who donned blue pin-striped trousers and a white jacket.
After the wedding the couple walked from the villa to a nearby restaurant to see their 19-month-old son, Alastair.
