Quaid set to welcome boy and girl twins
Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, who are expecting twins by a surrogate mother, know the sex of the babies: a boy and a girl.
The couple is the biological parents of the twins, due later this year, Quaid publicist Cara Tripicchio said on Monday. The pregnancy was announced last month.
Quaid has a 15-year-old son, Jack Henry Quaid, from his marriage to Meg Ryan.
Screen credits for the 53-year-old actor include Far From Heaven, The Rookie, The Right Stuff, Great Balls of Fire! and 1998's The Parent Trap, co-starring Lindsay Lohan.
Quaid and Kimberly Buffington were married in 2004.
Michigan's Idol sings at state capitol
LaKisha Jones, fourth-place finisher on American Idol, was greeted by Governor Jennifer Granholm and hundreds of other fans on Monday at the state capitol.
Jones, a native of Flint, wowed the crowd with and the songs, I Am Telling You I'm Not Going, from Dreamgirls and, God Bless the Child. She had performed both songs on the hit Fox network talent contest.
Fans held signs, snapped photos and cheered Jones as she continued a homecoming trip through Michigan before leaving to rehearse for an upcoming tour.
"Never in a million years" did she dream that she would be on the Capitol steps with the governor, Jones said.
"My life is at a complete 360," the 27-year-old singer told reporters. "God has really blessed me tremendously."
The single mother said she plans to live in Houston, where she lived more than six years before moving to Baltimore for a bank-teller job.
She made the Idol semifinals in February, got an on-camera kiss from sometimes-churlish Idol judge Simon Cowell and remained in the running until May 9, when she was outpolled by Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis and eventual winner Jordin Sparks.
Jones will participate in the "American Idol" tour this summer. She was to leave on Tuesday for rehearsals in Los Angeles.

"Now I'm going home to rest a while," Daddy Yankee said.
He was hospitalized early on Friday.
Daddy Yankee has postponed a promotional tour for his new album, El Cartel: The Big Boss, released by El Cartel Records/Interscope.
Reggaeton is a mix of reggae, rap and Latin music styles.
