China stays on course for 5th straight Asian title
China's national B team continued to perform well, crushing Thailand 113-47 yesterday in its third match of the FIBA Women's Asian Championship in Incheon, South Korea.
China opened the tournament on Sunday with a surprising loss to Japan but did not make any mistakes in the second match, demolishing Malaysia 109-76 the following day.
Playing without most of their first choice players, the team is looking for its fifth straight Asian title.
The 22th FIBA Women's Asian Championship features two levels. China, South Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Malaysia are in Level One.
The top four in Level One will advance to the semifinals, while the other two will have to play against the top two teams in Level Two in classification games in a bid to avoid relegation.
As China hosts the 2008 Olympics, the highest-placed team other than China at the Asian Championship will advance to the Beijing Olympics.
