Getting there
There are flights from Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, to Lijiang many times a day. A return ticket from Beijing
with connecting flight cost 3,200 yuan ($418), but was in high season. A discounted low-season return airfare costs 2,500 yuan ($327), with accommodation.
Accommodation starts from 80 yuan ($10) a night in low season at dozens of hostels. Middle range hotels cost between 150 and 400 yuan ($20-52). There are some high-end hotels, which charge more than 800 yuan ($105) a night.
Watch a circle dance by the Naxi women, get lost in Old Town; hire a taxi and visit the Yangtze River, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Yulong (Jade) Snow Mountain. Walk to the Black Dragon Pond Park and smell the flowers.
