Rockets secure Adelman as new coach: report
HOUSTON, Texas: Rick Adelman, the only man the Houston Rockets interviewed after dumping Jeff Van Gundy as coach, has agreed to terms to guide the National Basketball Association club, the Houston Chronicle reported Monday.
Citing unnamed sources, the newspaper reported that Adelman would come to Houston on Tuesday and be introduced as the new coach of Chinese star Yao Ming and backcourt playmaker Tracy McGrady on Wednesday.
Adelman has a career record of 752-481 in 16 NBA seasons as a coach with Sacramento, Golden State and Portland. His 14 playoff seasons include NBA Finals appearances with Portland in 1990 and 1992.
Henin upbeat about fourth French Open success
LIMELETTE, Belgium: Women's tennis world number one Justine Henin said on Monday she was confident she could win a fourth French Open title in the past five years.
The 24-year-old Belgian has won three tournaments this campaign and admitted she was feeling even better tha she had done six months ago.
"I feel very strong, stronger than I did six months ago," said Henin, who has won the WTA tournaments in Dubai, Doha and Warsaw this season.
Henin, who turns 25 on June 1, recalled how her love affair with Roland Garros started when she won the junior tournament in 1997.
Vieira joins France injury list ahead of qualifiers
PARIS: France international captain Patrick Vieira has been ruled out of next month's European qualifiers against the Ukraine and Georgia with a knee injury.
The 30-year-old Inter Milan midfielder was hurt when he collided with Roma's Rodrigo Taddei in the Italian Cup final last week.
"He's totally and definitely out, we can't take him," France coach Raymond Domenech told AFP.
"We're not going to rush him, what's important is that he can play again for his club," added Domenech, who is already without striker Thierry Henry and defender Willy Sagnol.
Vieira has only recently come back from a troublesome right hamstring injury for which he had surgery.
NFL's fastest man Miller arrested for assault
NEW YORK: Justin Miller, a New York Jets cornerback and kick returner who was named American football's fastest man, was arrested on Sunday and charged with assault after a fight outside a Manhattan nightclub.
Miller, honored as the National Football League's top speedster at the Pro Bowl in February, fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by police a block from the Martime Hotel, where a 26-year-old woman claimed Miller punched her.
"I want to apologize to everyone for this situation, including my family, my teammates, the Jets organization, our fans and the entire NFL," Miller said in a statement released after his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
