Bowling
National league completes second stop
The Shenzhen leg of the 2007 Vinda National Ten-pin bowling league was held over the weekend.
The top two finishers in the open class were Zhejiang Spring Rain Team and the Zhuhai Nanyou Hotel Team. Shenzhen Daxing Automobile Team was first in the curve-ball competition. The three top finishers all qualified for the national finals in November in Guangzhou.
The league will be held in eight Chinese cities with a total prize money of 760,000 yuan ($98,000). The next stop is in Chengdu from June 12 to 15.
Beijing and Shenzhen played hosts to the first two legs. Competitions will also be held in Kunming, Dalian, Zhengzhou and Wuhan before wrapping in Guangzhou.
Soccer
Tianjin capture national championship
Tianjin women's soccer team realised its 22-year dream of winning a national championship when they defeated Dalian 2-1 in extra time to capture the 2007 Yaojipuke China Football Association's Women's Cup over the weekend in Chongqing's Olympic Center.
Defending champions Shanghai defeated Beijing in the third-place playoff.
Bi Jingjing of Tianjin also won the best player and top striker awards. Zhang Guilei, also of Tianjin won the best coach award, and Dalian's Han Wenxia won the best goalkeeper award.
After a month of rest, the 16 teams will play in the second round of the China Super Women's League in Liaoning and Jiangsu.
Four straight victories under Swedish coach Marika Domanski-Lyfors added to Yaojipuke Company president Yao Wenchen's determination to help develop the sport in China.

Guizhou angling for nation's top fishermen
Three new Guinness records are set to be established when the inaugural China Wanfeng Lake Angling Competition is held from October 31 to November 2 at Wanfeng Lake Fishing Park in Baji Town, Xingyi, Guizhou Province.
The event, organized by the Social Sports Administrative Center, Guizhou Sports Bureau, Qianxinan nationalities autonomous prefecture, China Fishing Club of Celebrities and Xingyi People's Government, will be held at a 7.18-kilometer platform with 1,000 angling positions, two new Guinness records. The third record is the number of participants in the tournament which reaches a total of 928 enthusiast from around the country.
The top three finishers will be awarded with a Mazda car and 30,000 yuan cash. The second place finisher will receive 20,000 yuan and the third 10,000 yuan.
