Awards to inspire luxuryWhat's new

Modern Weekly magazine and Jaguar have launched the 2007 Jaguar Gorgeous Awards to highlight luxury living in China.

Winners will be the leaders in fashion and style in every sector of society.

Christopher Brown, general manager of Jaguar and Land Rover China and vice-president of Premier Automotive Group China said the awards are designed to inspire better understanding of luxury concepts.

Modern Weekly will interview one candidate each month and run a story to share their lives and experiences. The winners will be revealed by the end of this year.

Leading the pack

Nasdaq-listed Chinese human resources company 51job will partner with American Ken Blanchard Companies' to present a series of training courses on leadership in China. The first of these courses will be "Situational Leadership II," which will open to enterprises and the public this month.

51job's Vice-President Wang Tao said that "Situational Leadership II" requires a leader to adopt appropriate management approaches according to every staff member and is very practical for enterprise leaders in China.

About 30 percent of "Situational Leadership II" will take the form of lecture, and the rest will include interactive activities such as situational practice and discussion.

France, Thailand lead dream destinations

National Geographic Traveler (China) announced their 2007 Readers' Choice of favorite tour destinations, resorts, airlines and travel agencies late last month.

France, the Netherlands and Thailand took top spots in the "Best Countries for Touring" category, while Malta, Maldives and Hawaii were selected as "Best Islands".

Readers' favorite overseas cities included Rome, Tokyo and Vienna, while their choices of top Chinese cities for touring are Shanghai, Beijing and Sanya. The "Best Airlines" awards go to Air China and Air France.

This is the second year that National Geographic Traveler (China) has run the Readers' Choice awards. From January to March, the magazine received a total 10,473 online votes. Once tallied, the results will be published in the May issue of the magazine as well as on www.traveler.trends.com.cn.

Casting ballots to discover capital's top radio DJs

Who is your favorite radio program anchor, host and DJ? Beijing Radio is organizing a vote among their listeners to select the Top Ten Hosts. People could vote for their favorites from the 100 personalities nominated by Beijing Radio.

People can get their ballots in the Beijing Morning Post on May 16, the Star Daily on May 24 and 31 and The Beijing News on June 7. Then, listeners can mail their votes to Beijing Radio. Or voters can log onto www.bjradio.com.cn or call the competition's toll-free hotline at 9500-9966. The deadline is June 16.

Beijing Radio will also present special gifts to 260 lucky voters.
