Rockers stand up

Reviews: concertThe concert titled Stand Up turned out to be a great night for all the rock fans at Beijing's Star Live, on April 4.

The concert gathered nearly all the Chinese bands such as the Tang Dynasty (pictured) who have witnessed the birth of China's homegrown rock music.

The concert was dedicated to Li Guoqiang, one of the best sound engineers in China, who is suffering from cancer. He has worked with Cui Jian and many other stars.

The biggest surprise was Wu Tong, the former leading vocalist of Lunhui (Again). Born to a musical family in Beijing, Wu was the founding member of the pioneering rock band. He wrote a song especially for Li, who has been a mentor from the very beginning.

When Black Panther, one of China's oldest and probably best selling bands, showed up on the stage, the crowd burst out their long-reserved passion for the band. Utterly Ashamed, one of the most popular songs in their first album, was sung by all of the people on and off the stage.
