Mysterious glazes

Reviews: ArtFor more than a decade, Japanese artist Kyosuke Hayashi has devoted much energy to re-create the mysterious Yaobian Temmoku glaze which originated in South China's Fujian Province some 800 years ago. Now he has brought his latest works to Beijing at his solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China. On display are 24 selected ceramic works that Hayashi has made with the latest ceramic technologies and bear strong resemblance to the Song Dynasty furnace-transmutation lustre and patterns. Being part of the Sino-Japanese Exchange Year of Culture and Sports, the show, scheduled to end next Monday, is organized by the China International Exhibition Agency, Beijing Culture Development Foundation and some Japanese art institutions.
