Another Korean actress found dead
A South Korean actress apparently hanged herself, police said on Saturday, less than three weeks after another female Korean performer committed suicide.
The deaths sparked concern of copycat deaths in South Korea, which has the highest suicide rate among the members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Jeong Da-bin, 27, was found dead in the bathroom of her boyfriend's apartment in southern Seoul, police said.
She has apparently succumbed to a bout of depression as she was suffering from lack of work in recent months, her boyfriend told journalists.
After making her debut in 2000 as a television actress, she received a series of top awards for her performance in comedies and dramas in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
But she was unable to find roles since her last appearance in a television drama in September 2005.
If confirmed, Jeong's death would be the second suicide case involving a South Korean celebrity in less than three weeks. Yuni, a female pop singer, was found hanging in her home in Incheon City on January 21.
Ralph Fiennes gets flak for mid-air dalliance
British movie star Ralph Fiennes is at the center of a mile-high sex scandal after he allegedly became amorous with an Australian flight attendant during a long-haul flight, according to a report.
A 38-year-old Qantas stewardess has been suspended and could lose her job after fellow crew members allegedly spotted her and Fiennes leaving the same aircraft toilet cubicle moments apart, The Sunday Telegraph said.
In a statement lodged with her employer and obtained by the paper, Lisa Robertson said the actor had become "amorous" with her after the pair chatted together during a flight from Australia to India late last month.
But she denied having sex with the 44-year-old star of The English Patient and Schindler's List.
The newspaper was unable to get a comment from Robertson, but a spokesman for Qantas confirmed that a flight attendant had been stood down following an on-board incident.
Fiennes was in Australia in January to perform at the Sydney Festival. He and his long-time partner Francesca Annis separated last year.
Russell Crowe says no to cheerleaders
Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe has banned cheerleaders from his rugby side's ground because he says they make spectators uncomfortable.
Crowe, who co-owns the South Sydney Rabbitohs, has replaced the scantily-clad pom-pom wavers with a percussion band to encourage crowd chants.
"We feel they made a lot of people uncomfortable. We examined game day and wanted to contemporise and make the focus football," the Hollywood heart-throb told Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper.
