Indian firms benefit from friendly exchanges
Indian companies will further benefit from improvements in the Sino-Indian bilateral trade and economic relationship, said a chief executive of an Indian company.
"Reviewing the trend of Sino-Indian relations in the past decade, we can easily come to a conclusion that these two populous and geographically massive countries need each other, both economically and emotionally," said Rajeshwar Mishra, group managing director of Orind Refractories Limited, the first wholly owned Indian company in China.
"We will certainly benefit as the market is expanding in both countries," he added.
"Personally, I think the initiative taken by both governments is incredible."
He predicted that with the initiative taken by both sides, bilateral trade and investment is bound to grow manifold in the coming years.
"Both the dragon (China) and the elephant (India) will emerge as economic giants in bilateral trade and investment," he said.
With people in both countries expecting more, like introduction of additional flights, promotion of tourism and cultural exchanges, Mishra said he can foresee these happening soon.
Orind, which set up a base in China 12 years ago, has witnessed the remarkable changes in trade and economic relations between China and India.
Mishra said the current scenario is quite different in China compared with 12 years ago, as "investment fosters relations."
Mishra, who has had a pleasant and productive business experience in investing in China, encouraged more Indian companies to come to the neighboring country.
"Personally, we encourage our Indian friends to invest in China because of our good experience and vice versa," he said.
This transformation occurred, he explained, due to an exchange of ideas, visits of leaders of both countries, and trade shows and exhibitions held in the two countries. China Council for the Promotion of International Trade played as catalyst, he added.
"More visits of people from either side should be encouraged."
As the first wholly owned Indian company in its field to come to the Chinese mainland, Orind enjoyed the support of the local government and society.
Mishra said that the company has not faced any major difficulties concerning policies or investment environment, and the government has always been very helpful.
Orind is the worldwide leader in magnesia carbon bricks (MCB), with its state-of-the-art facilities to develop, manufacture and market high-performance refractory products.
Orind has the single largest MCB manufacturing plant in the world, with a production capacity of 10,000 tons of bricks per month. The other facilities include separate plants to produce basic and alumina based monolithic and a unit to manufacture special products.
Orind spreads across five continents, with global offices and marketing networks. It strives to deliver quality products and services to its valuable customers.
Orind's prime objective for its customers is to fulfill their needs and expectations through its range of high-performance products and services.
Partnership with Arcelor Mittal, the global prime steel maker, is the backbone of Orind, Mishra said with pride.
