World-wide high school poll
The poll was carried out among 7,304 high school students from 156 middle schools in China, Japan, South Korea and the United States.
It was conducted jointly by the China Youth & Children Research Center, the Japan Youth Research Institute, the Korean Youth and Children Development Institute and a US survey company.
The poll took more than one year.
3,240 high school students in China, 1,342 in Japan, 1,714 in South Korea, 1,008 in the United States were polled.
The poll covered six provinces and cities in China including Sichuan, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi provinces and Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou; 12 areas in Japan including Aichi and Nagano;15 areas in South Korea including Kangwon and Busan; and 12 areas in the United States including North Carolina.
The poll touched on teen issues including attitudes towards themselves, their life, study and school discipline, friendship, relationships with parents and pop culture.
